Changes to Colorado Paid Leave Go Into Effect August 7, 2023

Employers will need to change their policies and employee agreements in order to comply with the new laws.  Effective August 7, 2023, employees may take paid sick leave for these additional reasons:
 
  1. Grieving, attending funeral and memorials, or dealing with financial and legal matters that arise after the death of a family member;
  2. Caring for a family member whose school or place of care has been closed due to inclement weather, loss of power, heat, water or other unexpected event; or
  3. Evacuation of an employee’s residence due to inclement weather, loss of power, heat, water or other unexpected event.
