Legal Experience
Founding Partner in Savrick, Schumann, Johnson & McGarr, Ms. McGarr's practice encompasses all employment related matters including litigation in federal and state court and administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Workers Compensation Commission. Ms. McGarr regularly counsels employers on employment issues involving state and federal employment and labor laws, wage and hour counseling, civil rights compliance, wrongful termination and retaliation claims, executive and employment contracts and non-compete covenants. She has represented clients in numerous types of employment disputes including allegations of discrimination on the basis of age, race, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, disability and sexual harassment. Ms. McGarr has served as lead trial counsel in state and federal court and has had successful jury and bench trials to verdict. She has handled numerous appeals to the Fifth Circuit and state appellate courts. Ms. McGarr also provides clients with in-house training, seminars and employee handbooks and routinely negotiates successful settlements and meditations.
Ms. McGarr has significant litigation experience in complex commercial litigation, including disputes involving a wide variety of employment, contract, fraud, intellectual property, and professional malpractice issues. Favorable jury and bench trial verdicts in Texas and Georgia justice, county and district courts as well as federal district and bankruptcy courts. Extensive experience with the pretrial management of large-scale cases in state and federal court.
